Satyajit Chandra Chanda is a contemporary Mumbai based fine artist, born in Kolkata, West Bengal, with MFA from M.S University, Gujarat and BVA from Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata.
During his college days, his paintings were related to the chaotic city life, where he missed the boundless natural beauty from his hometown, Bengal.
Later, he started living in Naigaon, Vasai, near Mumbai, Maharashtra. He was immensely inspired by the landscape here and reminisced his childhood memories of Nature in Bengal.
Satyajit is a versatile Painter and Graphic artist. His artwork style is semi-realistic. He chooses the medium according to whichever best suits the imagery. He is skilled in various media- oil, acrylic, watercolour, etching and drawing.

Concept & Inspiration
"Nature is the Ultimate Being." This is what I depict in my paintings.
In our society, there is a lot of construction and industrial activity. When such activity ceases, or the area is abandoned, wild Nature takes over. Creepers can be seen growing over old structures, and on dead trees and branches. Here I realise that Nature is truly timeless, indestructible and has real powerful authority on Earth. We are children living on Mother Nature’s lap.

My Art Statement & Future Vision
I realised that "Nature is the Ultimate Being."
This Earth is for everyone-trees, birds and humans. We need to live in harmony with each other.
I am working on contrasting themes of village lifestyle and the corporate, mechanical city lifestyle. In the future I want to merge these two worlds together in a single frame.
